BCBG Max Azria may seem like the obvious pick from a powerhouse feminine brand, but I’ve got to hand it to Mr. Azria. He was at his height for Day 1 of NYFW. I’m calling ecru the it color for Spring based on today’s shows. He nailed it best for his BCBG namesake in an unexpected fashion. The color popped up in its more traditional, etherial sense on breezy dressy and sheer skirts but was executed with equal caliber on moto jackets that were softened with karate style knot belts. Any style he serves up the color, I’ll take it.
I’ve also got to hand it to BCBG for starting a new tech trend. It’s the first brand to introduce “like to buy” via instagram, a feature that delivers a direct shopping link to your email upon hitting that familiar red heart. I’m honestly surprised it’s taken this long for a savvy designer to tap into the wallets of ladies parading in stilettos and doing free visual promotion for their brand. What do you think about this move that could signal live shopping from the runway?
For Day 2, I’ve got my money on Zimmerman to stun us with structure and bold color. Back with more from NYFW soon!
